Different feel than 9120's
"The 9220's have a lot of "friction" between my shoe/cleat and the pedal when compared to the 9120's. Something changed in the cleat interface and I don't really care for it."
SHIMANO’s XTR PD-M9220 enduro pedals utilize a wide contact area that improves pedaling efficiency, assuring no wasted power when you’re charging uphill. During descents the wider raised pedal platform combined with four adjustable traction pins increase rider stability, security, and control, especially when you’re not clipped in.
The XTR PD-M9220 is exceptionally durable thanks to a robust outer cage that protects the pedal’s binding mechanism from rock strikes and other trail impacts. They also feature an improved seal design that ensures these enduro-ready pedals are play free and spin smooth and true season after season.

"I decided that I would try one up pedals bc the red color looked amazing on my bike. First pair was defective and the second pair wore out within a year of hard riding. Back to Shimano pedals I go. They just work perfectly and last forever."
"Great pedals"
"Great construction of them and lightweight for the construction. However I find it hard clipping in and out and already have had a few falls due to last minute unclipping issues. I wish they came with an extension clip for shoes that are recessed and are a little difficult to get in or out of. That being said I do not believe they are an issue but I feel like for this price they should come with extras."
"Riding SPD’s since they came out have never failed me, regardless of rock strikes, mud, snow neglect of cleaning they just continue to engage and disengage with 100% consistency. The new multi entry cleat is a nice welcome to just stepping down to engage allowing for easier starts in times your first pedal strike needs be a secure one. The wide platform is very comfortable and supportive under foot and the addition of pins may or may not be a help, but they have not introduced any negative effects. SPD is the only one you should ride."
