Super uncomfortable

"I bought these to replace my aging and smelly RX8s, which I loved. The RX8s were very comfortable, but would have been better with two boa dials. Enter the new XC7s. Two boa dials, BUT Shimano changed the tongue of the shoe. On the RX8s, the tongue wrapped around the foot better. On these new XC7s, the tongue doesn't wrap around as much and has a pinch point. Super uncomfortable. The only way I could complete the few rides I did with them was by loosening the boa dial completely. I reached out to Shimano about this and was told I'd have to pay the shipping to send them back for them to review the shoes. There is no obvious/visible flaw with the shoe, and since I had worn them three times, I wasn't confident that Shimano would handle the situation properly. So now I've wasted $270 on a pair of shoes I can't wear. Disappoint in the shoes and disappointed with Shimano's approach to handling the situation."

Best shoe for the bucks!

"These XC7 shoes are elite level race shoes as a mid level price. Far and away the best deal in racing cycling shoes. I don't want ultra stiff mountain bike shoes as walking happens. . . . . and these are more than stiff enough with the carbon insert under the pedal/cleat. The double BOA is solid and works well. The fit is perfect for my low profile feet while still giving enough toe box but not too much. And the silver simply looks fast!"
