Not What I Was Expecting.

"Narrow toe box, no cat tongue heel, no set of studs and no half size in wides. Bit disappointed to be honest. I've had 2 pairs of the previous versions (plus a warrantied pair) and absolutely loved them. I was advised to get 43W, despite wearing a 43. 5 in the previous version. And while the width is good, and to be fair the length is as well. It's the narrow toe box that kills the fit. If I go up to a 44, they'll be too big."

Best shoe ever?

"I've had a LOT of top end shoes. Raced xc pro thru '99. Raced Cat 1 xc masters thru '19. Recently had the previous version for 3 years and liked them a lot. This newest version is easily my all time favorite mtn shoe! The toe box is incredibly open without slop. The heel cup, mid foot holds you great and is why the toe box is so great! Also much better sole for normal plus granite hike a bike. And FINALLY the new boa that doesn't pop out of the lower groove! Yes Shimano should add toe spikes in the box!! Come on Corporate!! I'm not picking on them for lack of high end insole as if you're buying this level of shoe, GET ORTHOTICS!! You can afford them and you WILL love them."

"Big time Shimano S-Phyre shoe fan here. I am an elite racer and professional bike mechanic. I've been wearing the xc 902 for several years. All time favorite shoe. I just got a fresh pair of the xc 903 and I like the improved boa shield and fit and feel. HOWEVER, I am giving 4 stars because for such an expensive shoe to take a step back and not provide a nice travel bag, arch support, toe spike tool, and toe spikes is a big disappointment. Clearly a cost cut from shimano and a downgrade for the consumer."

Does this include a shim that will protect the carbon soles from the cleats?
Hello David, they do not. They are designed for the SPD to bolt directly to the sole. Follow proper torque instructions to avoid over-tightening and damaging the sole. Between 5-6nm
