"Great!"
You need a pedal that can handle the roughest terrain. An integrated cage on the PD-M8120 protects the binding mechanism against impacts like rock strike. The chrome-molly spindle is strong and durable, using an 8mm hex wrench mount. The retention claws are robust and ensure smooth engagement and release, however rough it gets.
The PD-M8120 is specifically engineered to enhance bike control. The large contact surface area between the pedal and shoe provides a stable platform when climbing and descending. The lower platform height promotes pedaling stability and efficient power transfer. The integrated cage increases your control when you’re not clipped in.

"Great!"
"I rode on Campy Record Profit pedals for decades. I find these Shimano pedals to be far superior. High quality, easy entry and exit, solid platform for this 73-year old rider."
"I bought the Simano M8120 pedals got my carbon fiber bike and I love them. Easy to get in and out. Perfect control with them. I bought a second pair for my second carbon bike too. Next bike I get will have them without a doubt. Fantastic clipless system for trail riding."
"The 8120 took me to another level of trail riding. I bought my second set of pedals for my carbon fiber bikes. I’m a novice to clipless pedal riding and I plan on converting the rest of my bikes with this pedal. Fantastic design. I can clip in and out effortlessly. They make almost seem intuitive. I’m in my 70’s and I ride 3 to 4 times per week 60 to 80 miles per week."
"These pedals have brought me back into the clipless world of riding again. I ever bought a second pair of them. I plan to equip more of my bikes with the same one."
"Excellent pedals"
"After riding my M540 pedals into the ground over the past decade, I decided to buy a new set of pedals, and these caught my eye. I really liked the "platform" feature (Shimano calls it a "cage" but whatever) that surrounds the basic SPD clips I was already used to. Seemed like it would make them more comfortable to ride with my regular shoes (ex: just cruising around town and don't want to wear my cleated MTB shoes). That ended up being true. For this review's built-in questions of "How did you find the ventilation" and "How would you rate the value," I answered both with 4/5 stars and 5/5 stars respectively. What really makes these pedals shine is their durability. They're bombproof. In learning new trails, I usually end up taking a good number of spills (hey, it is what it is) and incurring a fair quantity of pedal-strikes on rocks. These pedals just keep on going, and I credit that to the "platform" feature I mentioned earlier. It protects the clip mechanism from front/back impacts. I guess it does leave the pedal vulnerable to top/bottom impacts, but those seem like a very slight possibility to me and the front/back protection is what I'd say benefits most riders. So, great job on that design feature. The CrMo spindle is tough, and it's thicker/stouter than the XTR spindle so it's gonna exhibit better rigidity. My wife and I both use these pedals. Many miles, and zero problems. Set it and forget it!"
