Optimal Pedaling

The PD-M520 SPD pedal will improve your pedaling efficiency and power transfer. By clipping in, more of your effort is transferred from you to your bike. The result? You go faster. Coupled with its strong chrome-molly spindle and sealed bearings cartridge axle, the PD-M520 is all about durable performance at an affordable price.

Reliable Engagement and Release

The PD-M520’s open binding mechanism allows mud and debris to be pushed out when you step into the pedal. Its superior mud-shedding design means reliable clipping in and out in all conditions. The tension settings are adjustable so you can customize the force required to clip in and out.

solid. inspires confidence.

"I run XT on my race bikes, but with so many bikes I just needed more SPD pedals. The M520 is perfect for this, for me. It is solid and inspires confidence and feels built to last."

Bomb proof affordable clip in pedals that work!

"I've been riding Shimano SPD's like these since the early 90's and if you don't care about weight these are robust well functioning pedals with replaceable bearings (should you need to). Some commentators dis these compared to the 540's - which I own as well - but I don't really see any performance difference. They are both great. One advantage of this more traditional version of the pedal is that you can install/remove with either a pedal wrench or a hex bar. Sometimes I find the 540's a bit more of a challenge to remove for mainteance / swapping. And they are only $50! These things are right up there with the invention of hyperglide as top technological innovations in the last 4 decades."

Feels solid and together, amazing power transfer

"Pedals clip in reassuringly , power transfer feels solid with no power loss. Has enough wiggle room to feel comfortable while feeling solid with the bike. Tension adjustment can go low enough for a lighter rider (like me) to have no trouble clipping in or out. Looks fantastic on my bike. No complaints, perfect for me."

Good First Clipless Pedals

"Great clipless pedal for the price! This is my first clipless/clip-in pedal. I bought it for my road bike despite this being an MTB pedal. It's a little on the heavy side, so if you are looking for light-weight, this is not for you. I use these with the Shimano AM5 shoes, which are great. Easy clip-in/out action, with a satisfying *click* when the cleat locks in. Easy to maintain, and has been serving me well for several hundred miles at this point. Thanks, Shimano!"
